The Ruling of Setting Quraanic Ringtones
وهذا سائلٌ يقول: ما حكم وضع جهاز الجوال على تنبيه فيه قراءات أو تلاوات؟
إذا أدى ذلك إلى امتهان القرآن، وسماع القرآن من غير استماع، فإن هذا لا شك أنه إزراء بالقرآن وامتهان له،
القرآن إنما أنزل ليقرأ ويتدبر، ويتعبد بتلاوته، ويعمل بأحكامه، ويتخلق بآدابه، فالقرآن منهج ودستور حياة، ليس لهذا الأمر
فلا يجعل فيه بدلاً من النغمات، ولا يعلق في الجدران؛ لأن هذا خلاف ما أنزل من أجله، المقصود أن مثل هذه التلاوات لا تنبغي بل هي خلاف الأولى.
If it leads to disrespect of the Quraan, and the listening to the Quraan without attentiveness, then there is no doubt that it is demeaning the Quraan. The Quraan was revealed to be recited and pondered over; to be used as an act of worship in its recitation; to be acted in accordance to its rulings; to be taken as a guide to base one’s character upon. The Quraan is a way and manifesto for life, not for these matters. It should not be used as a substitute for ringtones; nor hung on walls, as this contradicts the reason for its revelation.
The intent is that the likes of this is not befitting – rather, it is contravenes that which is more correct.
